Zonta Rose Day

Zonta Rose Day is celebrated each year on 8 March in conjunction with International Women’s Day. It is a time to recognize the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and to honor the individuals who have inspired, encouraged and empowered us.

The yellow rose has long been associated with Zonta. On Rose Day, Zonta members reflect on the progress women have made, recognize the work that remains and reaffirm their commitment to building a better world for women and girls.

Recognize a Remarkable Woman

Zonta Rose Day offers an opportunity to honor someone who has made a meaningful difference. She might be:

  • A community leader or volunteer.

  • A teacher, mentor or coach.

  • A family member or friend.

  • A business or nonprofit leader.

  • An advocate for women and girls.

  • A young woman demonstrating courage and leadership.

  • Someone whose quiet acts of service have strengthened her community.

Recognition can take many forms: presenting a yellow rose, making a donation in someone’s honor, sharing her story or simply telling her how she has influenced your life.

Celebrating Throughout March

Although Zonta Rose Day remains 8 March, many Zonta clubs now extend their activities throughout the month. This allows more opportunities to recognize remarkable women, raise awareness of Zonta and support programs benefiting women and girls.

Clubs may celebrate by:

  • Presenting Yellow Rose Awards to community leaders.

  • Hosting an International Women’s Day or Rose Day program.

  • Recognizing women through social-media profiles or local news stories.

  • Inviting women leaders to speak about their experiences.

  • Fundraising for the Zonta Foundation for Women or a local service project.

  • Partnering with schools, businesses and civic organizations.

  • Holding a membership or community-awareness event.

  • Honoring women whose achievements have not received sufficient public recognition.

Celebrate Achievement. Continue the Work.

International Women’s Day celebrates progress, but it also calls attention to persistent inequality. Women and girls still face barriers to safety, education, health care, economic opportunity and leadership.

Zonta Rose Day reminds us that recognition and action belong together. By honoring the women who inspire us, supporting the women and girls around us and continuing to advocate for gender equality, we help build a more equitable future.
